Busy Monday report
« Nov 30, 2009    10:46:24 PM »

left early (10ish) didn't get home until after 330

lawyer, PO, gas, Wally-like store--(but more $), bank appointment, Dad's...

the store had me covering alot of territory...they moved alot of stuff around because of the holidays, so I probably made 4 extra trips throughout the store to find and get the items I wanted.

I got a box of Satsumas.  Having grown up in CA, I am a hard headed about my citrus.  I want Satsumas, not 'cuties' or 'clementines'!!

California grown Satsumas... well, the store was down to 2 boxes... lots of others are particular about their citrus. I refused to buy the cuties.

I was searching for one of those neck wraps with the little seeds that you microwave.  I found pink and green ones, but those weren't on special...only the muslim colored ones which I couldn' find and I had two different clerks helping me search for them...found them in the other end of the store with some sale stuff.

I got the last one for $8.  I'm trying it now.  It's a bit heavy and doesn't hold the heat as long as a therma-care, but therma-care patches are pricey.

I got 10 pounds of all purpose flour for $2.78, store brand, but it will be fine for banana bread, irish soda bread.  I also happened to find 5 pound bags of Red Mill whole grain wheat bread flour, 2 for $4, so I got 10 pounds.
It is good wheat bread flour.  I use 1 part wheat, 1 part unbleached white and a couple tablespoons of gluten flour in my Honey Wheat recipe and I get a real nice-just right- wheat bread. Flour went in the freezer.

I got some Energizer Lithium batts AA for my little camera.  They really do work alot longer in cameras--alot.  I had a $2 a package off coupon and the store had an instore coupon for 20%...so I got 2 four packs.

Store brand butter, 2 pounds for $3, so I got 2 pounds salted, 2 pounds unsalted and tossed them in the freezer.  Butter freezes so well and I stock up over the holidays and always have a stash all year long.  butter works much better in baking.

I got two white (no saint decals) novena candles.  clear glass with white wax puts out the most light -- great items to have on hand.  they aren't making them as big as they used to just a few years ago, the diameter of the glass container is smaller and it is only filled to about the 65% - 70% level, but you'll still get a good 60 hours out of them if you burn them about 6-8 hours at a time.

I had an instore coupon for store brand salad dressing, $1 a piece for 16 ounces, so I got four.

got some glue dots to use with a picture book I'm making for my granddaughter for Christmas.

spent $52.  I looked at the weatherstripping shrink wrap stuff, but they wanted 10.79 for enough to do one window 48x 64 window.  I'll have t check home depot or lowes.  they will probably have a better selection.

I had a store rewards coupon for 10 cent gas, so I filled up at 2.59--a good price for around here

 march

tomorrow I have to do paperwork, clean off my desk, and prepack a few zip locks with dry bread ingredients so I just have to pull the bag out of the freezer the night before, then in the morning add the wet ingredients and make bread.

clap hands  Sounds like you had a pretty good day. I hope you like that salad dressing though.

I still mostly just make bread from those frozen bread doughs. I made a first one since last winter over the weekend and ended up eating a whole loaf in a single day. had it hot with butter. then cold with pan drippings from a pork raost at dinner and then with peanut butter as a night time snack .

the local grocery is still selling those seven day candles , white and red. for 2.19. i have 6 of the white ones and 1 red one. I mostly just burn them on cold weekends.

i've been thinking of getting some flower and trying my own home made bread, but i kind of know that the flower would just sit forever.  started making jiffy cornbread muffins and buttermilk biscuits though. So easy  Cheesy

yea, that window plastic should be available cheaper someplace else i think.

it was just 4-5 years ago those novena candles were 89 cents!  they are $2 each here too, but sometimes I find one or two at the dollar store... but I think more people have realized they last longer than other candles and so the dollar store sells out quickly

i know those frozen loaves, you just bake them, correct?

don't they also come in wheat?

what do you pay for those?

i'll look for it. not sure i'll watch it though. this swine flu mutation is starting to feel serious. i'm looking for info on it.

did you see the last couple of posts in the pandemic forum?

 oh, the bread.

i looked sunday. it's your normal white bread loaf. costs about 1.25 a loaf. they come in 3 or 5 loaf frozen packages already formed. You just raise them and bake them. sometimes i go for fried dough or add meats and cheese to them.

that's an okay price on the bread, costs that much for a basic loaf made from scratch

fancy breads with cheese or such can get more costly

i'm heading off to watch in bed and get warmed up under the comforter

later gator  hugs
