roads are a little emptier except for standard commute times.
Stores are a little emptier, specially the little convenient types that have higher prices.
last fill up gasoline 3.19 -- low compared to most states i gather.
groceries. 8 hanburg rolls 2.99 gallon milk. 3.99
still lower then other states?
The recession seems to be effecting peoples moods Mostly quiet, but, we are around here any way's. People are worried about their jobs to some degree but we have been efficiently dumbed down in these parts and the first couple of waves of layoffs caught most of the victims by surprise.
In the real estate sector. The larger newer homes that were built in the past few years seem to be the ones with for sale signs on them. Prices in this region have just started to drop now unlike other areas of the country. Some of the smaller houses are also going up for sale, these ones probably due to layoffs.
I noticed at the gas station it is no longer a pump and pay any longer. Large signs are on each pump to pay before you pump now. The small town honesty factor is evaporating. The grocery store has signs up that they I.D. any person Charging over 25$ of Groceries , and they are doing just that, also.
I know of two people in work at least that have taking in roommates to supplement their income.
That's all for now. It would probably be a good idea for most Americans to educate themselves about what is happening in this country,. The Europeans seem to have a better grip on what's happening to America then most of the people here do. It's really kind of sad. This one seems to be hitting the week first.

on the national level. American axle still on strike. Delphi lost it's financing to come out of bankruptcy. Rumor- ( More layoffs and factory closings for them in store). Gm was giving a 5 and 5 strike notice on Friday along with 30 plants idle due to American axle strike. Numerous small and mid companies are laying off because of the strike.
It is my opinion that this time around if the economy keeps sinking we won't have an American auto industry anymore. All our trucks and cars will be made over seas. Eastern Europe is gearing up big time along with India and china to become the new axis of auto makers.

P.S. I'm secretly hoping inside that the next wave takes me with it. i have a dream to swim to.
