Syria has allegedly deployed three military divisions along the borders with Lebanon amid mounting tension in the region, a report claims.
The Israeli website DEBKA claimed Sunday that the Syrian deployment coincided with the massing of Palestinian fighters in the Bekaa valley of Lebanon.
Tensions have been high in Lebanon after Israel threatened to wage another war against the country last week if Hezbollah retaliated for the killing of its commander, Imad Mugniyah in Damascus.
Following the threat, an Israeli warship violated Lebanon's waters last week, but was intercepted by an Italian ship operating under UNIFIL.
Israeli jets regularly violate Lebanese airspace, but it is rare for warships to enter Lebanese territorial waters.
The US Navy has also deployed a warship off the Lebanese coast 'to send a warning message to Syria and Iran.'
The Zionist regime fought a 33-day war against Hezbollah in summer 2006 to destroy the resistance group, but a recently published Winograd report revealed that the conflict brought a humiliating defeat to the regime.
