shopping report 1/130
« Jan 30, 2011    08:53:32 PM »
the ads are getting smaller along with the packages the food comes in.

i did pretty well inspite of spending more money then i planned.

i had this strange feeling while shopping today that time was running out. i realized some of the things on the shelves that i've been waiting to come down in price before i buy are never going to come down in price.

to the score.

3 family packs of boneless chicken 1.99 lb - cooking one now in tomato sauce for this weeks lunches.

1 rump portion of ham for 1.09 lb - cut it up into 3 pieces and repacked in put in freezer -

2 gallons milk - both in freezer.

4 packages hamburg rolls - 3 in freezer

box of instant rice - over 4 bucks  Embarrassed

bag of Maine potatoes .59 lb - i like em

2 boxes brownie mix 1.00 O piece
2 boxes yodels for 5.00
2 bags of candy - mini kitkat and mini mars for 3.49
box of nabisco saltines 1.99
2 small packs of cheddar cheese for 5.00 - there getting smaller so i don't know how much a bargain. the big full size ones were over 8 dollars and the other ones i used to get for 2.79 are now 3.99

2 half gallons friendlys ice cream buy one get one for . 4.99  - 2.50 is my price for ice cream.

2 - 3.99 bags of lays chips for 5.00

and a couple of other odds and ends - and sweet in low 250 count - never on sale these days. 4.99-

no coffee - no good sale
no soda - no good sale
and 3 half gallons of juice - apple and blue berrie and pomagrante - 2.00 o piece.

~~~~~~~~~~
i should have plent for at least 3 weeks . accept i'll be wanting soda and candy and stuff in between.
will be watching the circular. reading
~~~~~~~~~~~

shopping reports go here for now. rolls eyes

I noticed what you mean about the ads being smaller...not in size...but in offerings

I'm stocked, but I was looking at the ads a couple days ago, just to see what they were looking like

not much on sale really, but then, like you said, this might be the best price on alot of stuff

it used to be that just about every single thing in the store went on sale at least once or twice a year, you could count on it and stock accordingly, but now, stuff might go on "special" but the prices have gone up so much that they don't look like any kind of a deal

food prices going up all over the world

i wonder why bomby isn't suggesting mercians do a garden

check the amazon friday sale in grocery...they frequently have coffee deals.  I hardly buy the stuff so everytime I do get some I get sticker shock.

good price for the chips, juice, and boneless chicken

instant rice is scary it's so expensive

I like the brown rice...even more expensive

I've got a couple of bag of brown rice in the freezer.  I will use the instant brown if I can get it cheap, but I usually just make my own.  Sometimes I'll put a little bouillon in the water for some extra flavor or cook it with a can of tomatoes, stewed, whole, whatever i got, just add a little additional water because there's already alot of liquid in the canned tomato products

I get produce this week.   I got my order in yesterday...I ordered extra stuff that I know will last at least a month in the fridge.

were those ice creams really half a gallon?  None of the stuff sold here is still half a gallon
